Last Saturday, March 26th, I had an opportunity to attend a performance of music by John Cage being produced by Southwest Chamber Music. I’d heard music by John Cage before, but this was my first time seeing an entire concert of his music. On top of that, it was my first time listening to a live performance of 4’33″.

I had a great time at the concert, but of course managed to snap some pictures too. This was, by far, one of the most difficult concerts for me to photograph. Four4 was extremely challenging because there were times when there was silence for over 5 minutes. I had to focus pretty hard to find opportunities to take pictures without being disruptive. The thought of just sitting back and watching crossed my mind, but I’m glad I kept going. What a challenge!

In case you’re interested, there are three more concerts in April. Drop by Southwest Chamber Music’s website to get more info: here.
