About

I'm a photographer based in Orange County, California.

The roots of my photography are deeply seated in music. I've been photographing performances since 2007 and am proud to say that I'm probably one of the quietest photographers around with an SLR.

I'm currently studying percussion at The Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSULB. The percussion department has become an integral part of my photography and their continued support is very important to me.

Being a percussionist has made me into the photographer that I am now. Much of what I have learned is from photographing musicians at concerts and recitals. My style reflects the fact that I usually photograph musicians. I capture imagery as I watch events unfold in front of me and rarely play a role in the events as they happen. I am a quiet observer able to focus on the scene before me. Rather than having my own thoughts control what I record, the subjects I am photographing dictate the focus of my photography.

When I am photographing musicians, I feel like I am the most privileged audience member in the entire room. I alone am able to watch the musicians up close. From my perspective, I am able to see every emotion that comes across their face. I can see very small details about the performer, details that no one else can see. This does come at a cost, however, as I rarely am able to just sit back and listen to a performance.

But I would never consider giving it up. It's definitely a unique experience. Being a percussionist and a photographer has made my perspective in both arts a very unique one. For me, neither is complete without the other.
